Hush-Hush: Sarah and Matteo

Having come out of two failed relationships --- first, with ex-boyfriend Rayver Cruz, and second, with suitor Gerald Anderson --- Sarah Geronimo understandably chooses to keep mum about her love life."Sa lahat po ng pinagdaanan ko, naging open po kasi talaga 'yong personal kong buhay," she explained to PEP.ph, YES! Magazine's online affiliate, back in October. "Sana, naiintindihan n'yo po na, this time, gusto kong gawing private at ayaw kong haluan ng showbiz."
The heartaches that Sarah experienced with Rayver and Gerald --- who are, incidentally, close friends today --- came about largely because her parents, Delfin and Divine Geronimo, disapproved of both boys. To be fair to the two swains, the Geronimo couple were expected to disapprove of anyone courting their daughter. They have admitted to raising Sarah as virtually an innocent, one who doesn't know much about the real world, and thus see her as a child in great need of their guidance and protection in all matters, most expecially those of the heart.
After Rayver, in 2010, and Gerald, in 2012, were stumped in their courtship of Sarah, still another Star Magic talent, Matteo Guidicelli, came into the picture in 2013. Sarah and Matteo had been brought together by Sarah's U.S. Concert Tour, and had hit it off big time. YES! sources say, in fact, that Matteo has long had a crush on Sarah, whom he works with on ASAP. For her part, Sarah has apparently since been equally charmed.

This comes at a time when Sarah, who turns 26 in July, seems to have entered a new phase in her life. YES! gathers that the once almost-painfully obedient daughter has now mustered enough confidence to introduce Matteo, who turns 25 in March, to her parents and, even more astonishingly, managed to make is known to them that the guy is special to her and that she expects them not to give him a tough time. YES! also gathers that Matteo has already stepped foot in the Geronimo household, and has more than once had lunch there with Sarah. This, of course, has the effect of bringing them under the watchful eye of the elder Geronimos, but it also has the added effect of keeping the celebrity couple from being spotted together in public.
Whether Mommy Divine's extraordinary accomodation is due to a change of heart or merely of tactics, there is no denying that Sarah and Matteo are doing everything in their power not to agitate her. This is the big reason why the two are keeping an almost eerie hush round their relationship. Keeping things quiet may hopefully kill the rather trite and often unfair suspicion that a guy courting the A-List singer-actress has to be out to use her to advance his career.
But this lovely story is far from over. There are Matteo's rich parents to contend with. Will they openly approve of his new romance but privately disapprove of it? It's happened before. If this is the case again, will Matteo fight for his love the way Sarah, surprisingly, has now? ♥
