After only 7 days in theaters, the first movie co-starring Sarah Geronimo and Coco Martin has already breached the P100-million mark at the box office, according to producer Star Cinema.
"Maybe This Time" crossed the milestone on June 4, a week after its nationwide premiere, Star Cinema advertising and promotions manager Mico Del Rosario told ABS-CBNnews.com.
Martin earlier expressed disbelief over the success of the Jerry Sineneng film, as it is among his first blockbusters coming from starring roles in critically acclaimed independent films.
"Kumbaga, hindi ako makapaniwala," Martin said. " Hanggang sa bahay, pagdating ko, halos 'di ako makatulog, eh. Kaya nga sabi ko, hindi nila alam kung gaano ako kaligaya. Hindi ko inakala na makakagawa ng ganito kagandang pelikula."
Written by Melai Monge and Anton Santamaria, "Maybe This Time" centers on former sweethearts Tonio (Martin) and Steph (Geronimo) as they cross paths again years after he left her without closure or an explanation.
Steph, who works in a PR firm, is tasked by her boss, Monica (Ruffa Gutierrez), to get Tonio a makeover in time for the opening of a new bar. Matters turn complicated when Steph learns that Tonio and Monica are in a relationship.
"Maybe This Time," which is a co-production with Viva Films, marks the reunion of Geronimo and Martin after teaming up in the 2010 TV musical "1DOL."
